Benefit From CEREC Technology

CEREC dental technologies are most advanced and have improved the patient experience to a great degree.
A CEREC milling machine lets us manufacture your new crown while you wait.

CEREC isb an advanced digital imaging and processing method developed by Sirona Dental, which is a world leader in dental technologies. Same-day crowns at our Scottsdale office are an innovation made possible by this method that allows patients to have dental restorations performed in a single visit. This breakthrough eliminates the need for lab-made crowns or other restorations, multi-week waiting periods, temporary restorations, and multiple dentist appointments. Conventional dental impressions are also not required, which makes it possible for Scottsdale cosmetic dentist Dr. Jeffrey Clark to perform all aspects of a restoration in just one visit at our office. Dr. Clark and the entire team at Scottsdale Cosmetic Dentistry Excellence are committed to dental treatments that are effective, sophisticated, and convenient, which is why we are proud to offer you single-visit restorations from CEREC. CEREC can improve oral health, perfect smile aesthetics, and enhance quality of life through all-ceramic crowns, bridges, inlays, and onlays.

How Do Procedures With CEREC Work?

Getting a CEREC same-day crown in Scottsdale will begin with Dr. Clark prepping your tooth. Such prep varies from patient to patient and can involve the removal of any damaged tissue or decay in order to allow the crown to fit over the tooth without altering your smile. With that prep complete, Dr. Clark will then use CEREC Primescan—the most sophisticated 3D intraoral scanner ever made—to create highly precise digital impressions of your mouth. Those digital images take less than a minute to acquire and enable Dr. Clark to plan your restoration accurately, which takes just several minutes.

CEREC dental technology requires specialized training and is available at our Scottsdale office.

After designing your restoration, Dr. Clark will transmit that data to a CEREC milling machine, which is located in our office. This computer-aided machine will mill a perfect restoration. Once milling is complete, Dr. Clark will place the crown, ensure an ideal fit, and polish the restoration for a picture-perfect look, all before bonding it in place. The entire process takes less than two hours on average, and you will leave our office with an attractive smile and ready to go about your day. If you would like to learn more about the CEREC prosthetic process, we encourage you to watch the short video above.

FAQ About CEREC Procedures

CEREC is an exciting and innovative technology, and patients often have questions about the treatment process and the results that they can expect. Let us share answers to the questions that are common among patients who visit Scottsdale Cosmetic Dentistry Excellence:

Yes! Your restorations will be milled from some of the strongest and most durable materials available to the dental industry. Sirona, the manufacturer of CEREC, specializes in high-grade ceramics and offers a broad range of ceramic materials from which dentists can choose. These options help Dr. Clark and other dentists tailor the procedure to the individual needs of the patient.

Yes! This is among the most exciting aspects of CEREC. Dr. Clark is able to match the restoration with your natural tooth color so that it blends perfectly with the surrounding teeth. However, the natural appearance is about more than just color. Since the restoration is created using precise 3D imaging, the milling unit can expertly craft a shape and texture that delivers a seamless smile.

No! There is a skill component to the CEREC system. Dr. Clark has substantial training with using this sophisticated technology and now possesses many years of experience. He is an expert in all stages of the process, including capturing accurate digital images, designing the restorations, milling the ceramic blocks, and fitting and bonding the finished designs to your teeth.

What Is the CEREC Primescan Intraoral Scanner?

CEREC Primescan is a handheld digital scanner used to take 3D images inside the oral cavity.
Messy and uncomfortable impressions are no longer necessary due to this intraoral scanner.

CEREC Primescan is a digital scanner that can capture three-dimensional images of your mouth. This technology is an alternative to conventional dental impressions, which are less precise and require a dentist to use a putty that can be messy and which many patients find uncomfortable.

How Does CEREC Primescan Work?

CEREC Primescan is a handheld device that can be operated by a single person. It is the most sophisticated intraoral scanner on the market and can process more than one million three-dimensional points per second, and it can do this up to a depth of 20 millimeters. This allows for fast and accurate mapping of the teeth, gums, and bone structure. The scanner transmits this data to specialized Primescan software developed by CEREC. The software processes the data and creates 3D models.

CEREC Primescan intraoral scanners make chairside exams faster and more precise.

Dentists then use those models to assess patient health as well as design the most accurate implants, crowns, restorations, dental prosthesis, and so forth possible. It takes just a few sweeps of the wand and just mere minutes overall to create highly precise and modifiable images of your mouth.

What Makes CEREC Primescan the Better Choice for Dental Impressions?

  • Less wait time — Your dentist can access images of your mouth immediately rather than waiting for impressions to set. Your appointments are shorter, and you spend less time in the waiting room.
  • Real-time image processing — Computer vision lets dentists view oral cavities as they work. Filters can be used to modify the image and provide feedback germane to a particular diagnosis or treatment.
  • Highly adaptable — CEREC Primescan is an invaluable tool for practically any dental procedure—from treating gum disease to installing a crown—and dentists are still finding new applications for the technology.

Benefit From Galileos 3D CBCT Imaging

Galileos 3D imaging technology provides great accuracy when installing implants and performing other procedures.
3D imaging lets Dr. Clark see exactly what is happening in your teeth and bones.

Galileos 3D CBCT Imaging lets us give our patients the most accurate diagnoses possible while also helping us perform the safest and most accurate installation of dental implants. Galileos technology, produced by Sirona, uses Cone Beam Imaging to produce 3D images. These images allow the Dr. to more easily view exactly what is wrong with your teeth and bones and even let you see how we can correct these issues during your procedure. Using our software, you can see your treatment performed virtually so that you know specifically what we will be doing.

Galileos also helps Dr. Clark during the procedure by providing customized guides to ensure the most precise placement of your implant. Your treatment will go faster with this technology and will provide you with the best possible results. Galileos Imaging provides far better diagnoses and treatments than could ever have been achieved with traditional 2D X-rays. All of these factors help contribute to a beautiful new smile that you will enjoy!

Benefit From SICAT Guides

SICAT guides are one of the great breakthroughs in modern implantology.
Sophisticated software determines precise implant positions in order to ensure an ideal bite.

SICAT Virtual Treatment Guides are used along with our Galileos 3D imaging during implant surgeries to provide you with the most accurate and ideal placement possible. SICAT is particularly vital for implant surgeries done in areas with substantial bone loss or with few other teeth present to guide placement. Rather than having to place the implant freehand, Dr. Clark uses SICAT Guides to provide real-time information about oral needs.

This software lets Dr. Clark evaluate and determine precise implant location and bite alignment during the procedure to ensure that the finished placement is perfect and that teeth are not damaged when you are biting or chewing. Using advanced 3D imaging, your dentist gets all the information necessary to provide the most accurate and least invasive surgical procedures possible. You will benefit from a fast recovery after implant surgery and from a perfectly placed tooth that lets you bite, chew, and smile with ease.

Benefit From SICAT Air

SICAT air allows Dr. Clark to perform an initial diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea.
This display lets your dentist analyze the upper airways for the indications of sleep apnea.

Our other cutting-edge technology from SICAT is SICAT Air, which also uses 3D imaging to provide the most accurate diagnosis for sleep apnea. Using this screening technology, we can fully analyze your upper airways to determine if you have any signs of sleep apnea. If the screening is positive, we will refer you to a sleep physician to corroborate the diagnosis and prescribe the most effective treatment option. Many patients have been given CPAP, which is a device that provides continuous positive airway pressure while you sleep. However, if you are among the 60 percent of sleep apnea sufferers who have this device but do not use it regularly, a viable alternative would be a custom-fit oral appliance. Such a device fits your mouth and keeps your lower jaw open slightly while sleeping, thereby preventing the obstruction of the upper airways. For this, we use our CEREC technology or our 3M TruDef Scanner to create digital impressions.
