CEREC Same-Day Crowns in Scottsdale, AZ
If your tooth has been damaged or decayed to the point it cannot be supported by a filling, you will likely need a dental crown in order to restore the function of that tooth. When patients need crowns, Dr. Jeffrey D. Clark offers the added convenience of the state-of-the-art CEREC same-day crown at his Scottsdale office. CEREC crowns were developed by Sirona Dental, a leader in dental innovations, and are designed to be installed in a single visit with no follow-up appointments required. That one visit includes the consultation, planning, tooth preparation, and placement of the crown!
What Is a Dental Crown?
Many patients in Scottsdale will get a dental crown in order to restore a tooth to its original form and function. A crown is a fixed restoration usually made from porcelain and essentially a cap that is placed over what remains of your natural tooth. Crowns are placed over teeth that have been damaged, suffered serious tooth decay, or had root canal treatment performed. A crown can restore size, shape, and color. It encases the original tooth, and dental cement ensures that the crown is strong and can support biting, chewing, and other activities.
What Are CEREC Same-Day Crowns?
CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) one-visit crowns are designed and manufactured using sophisticated hardware and software that are available right here in our Scottsdale office. That means we make your crown while you are in the office rather than waiting for an off-site dental lab. Prior to the CEREC solution, patients had to wear a less-than-ideal temporary crown while the permanent crown was manufactured and delivered to our office. That meant at least two visits and a waiting period of several days to weeks. Now, Dr. Clark can scan the tooth and send that image to his extremely precise in-office milling machine. That machine takes approximately 30 minutes to make a perfectly fitted crown from a durable ceramic material. The average same-day crown appointment at Scottsdale Cosmetic Dentistry Excellence takes between one to two hours, and there is no downtime after!
What Is the Procedure for CEREC Same-Day Teeth in Scottsdale, Arizona?
The first step is to clean the tooth enamel to eliminate any decay and reshape the tooth so that the crown can be worn safely and comfortably. Then, Dr. Clark will use CAD/CAM (computer-aided design and manufacturing) technologies to prepare your dental crown. The CEREC Primescan intraoral scanner is utilized at our North Scottsdale office to obtain highly accurate images of your dental anatomy. Representing the most precision quality dental imaging on the market, digital images from Primescan are more sophisticated than the traditional impressions dentists generally use.
The CEREC system uses those digital images to create a 3D CAD model of the specific tooth. Using that CAD model, the system then uses CAM technology (our in-office milling unit) to create a ceramic dental crown from a single porcelain block. The finished crown is precise to your particular tooth, and the entire milling process takes no more than 30 minutes. All you have to do is sit back and relax. Once the crown is completed, Dr. Clark will affix it onto your tooth right then and there. And when the installation is complete, the entire procedure is over. You can go about your day and do not have to return for another appointment!
Dr. Clark and his entire team at Scottsdale Cosmetic Dentistry Excellence will ensure that you are comfortable throughout the CEREC Same-Day Teeth procedure. Dr. Clark has more than 20 years of experience as a leading cosmetic dentist in Scottsdale. He appreciates that your safety and comfort are paramount not just to your in-office experience but to the long-term effectiveness of your dental crowns.
